Change is in the air...

It's that time of year again...
New homeschool year, back to school, off to college.
Change is in the air...

So many families preparing for the changes to come. It can be exhilarating and frightening all at the same time. This new year will start off with butterflies and hopefully bloom into new adventures and experiences that we never even imagined.
A new or even first year of homeschooling can be a daunting task. You struggle to make the decision of whether or not to homeschool, then you move on to HOW to homeschool. The challenges are many, but then you figure out that the ends will justify the means.
A child returning to school can be bittersweet...bitter to the child longing for endless summers, and sweet to the parent that feels summers are endless. It's tough to entertain them all summer, you think...When does school start again??? ;)
Then there are those, venturing off to college, spreading their wings to begin their flight into their future. What an adventure set before them, and us, as we go through the steps of separation anxiety and seek out the new ways to better our children...but let's take a moment to step back and see who they've become. Children no more...where have the years gone? Moments are fleeting, and we need to stop to take them in a little longer. This is what we learn with time. Now we find ourselves letting go of the ones we love the most. Sending them off into the world of the unknown, for them to test the waters and grow.
All of these changes bring along many emotions, some of joy, some of sadness...but all in all change is a good thing. although not an easy task. I like many, have struggled with change all of my life and as I've grown older, I'd like to think, I've also grown wiser. A change, even when thrust upon you...in the end, can make you a better you. Without change we remain and do not grow. Without change we have no challenges, and without challenges we will never persevere.
In this milestone of a moment, as parents, our greatest demonstration of courage, and love,
is in the ability to let our children go and grow...
